Victoria 'Venus' Marie is the owner, designer, and self-taught bead artist behind MADE BY VENUS. She currently lives in Florida with her teenage son. She began beading as a hobby in 2017. After surviving and removing herself from domestically abusive relationship that left her hospitalized in March of 2020, she self-discovered the healing aspects of waistbeads and has been on a journey to share the power of waistbeads ever since. Formerly a Data Analyst at a Financial Institition, she now finds balance between being a mother and an artist.
Behind the business, she hand makes every strand, designs her website, composes her own product photography, and takes pride in every inch of her work. Combining seed beads, gemstones, crystals, and charms she handcrafts pieces that are inspired by nature (especially the beach), spirituality, African pride, and abuse survival.
The name Venus started as reverence to represent the ruling planet of her love-filled zodiac sign (Libra) but over time became a part of her identity and then her brand. Now she uses symbols such as hearts, pearls & shells or combinations of them all to embody her Venusian-centric brand & mission:

Whenever, I count my blessings, I count them twice. Despite, societal biases and struggles I enjoy being black and a woman very much. I tend to express my affinity for black womanhood through my work.
I don't talk much because I'm a thinker and an introvert. I enjoy the art of observation, the space of information, and the sounds of peace and quiet. In my free time I paint, draw, and create. I'm good with my hands, better with my mind, but the best with my heart. My happy space is in deep thought, in meditation, content creation, crafting and making people feel beautiful.
I enjoy topics like spirituality, philosophy, psychology, history and astrology. My happy place is the beach and my favorite element is water. I am divinely guided and protected and my intuition is my greatest gift. I operate from my Solar Plexus and often in need of inspiration. I prefer tea over coffee and night over day.
I've been on a spiritual path since 2012 and I've come face-to-face with the dualities of light and dark energy. I've been used, I've been abused and suffered from narcissistic relationships that broke me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I had a great fall and in the process of getting back up I healed.
I am by no means perfect, but today I am closer to wholeness, balance, and alignment. When you purchase from me, you are not just buying beads on a string. You're investing in a good vibe that took decades to blossom. My energy is my currency and I am humbly grateful for the exchange. Thank you very much.
